Dylan Bundy Promoted to the Orioles

The Orioles pulled a fantastic 4-2 victory out west over the Seattle Mariners in game that went 18 innngs and ended a tad before 4AM ET.

The pitching came through late, and with that being said, the Orioles need arms. I didn’t think this would happen; however, this morning they promoted highly touted youngster Dylan Bundy to the majors.

This was a huge surprise, as I didn’t think the the Orioles would bring him up this year. The Orioles are now tied for the Yankees with the AL East lead, and have a three-game advantage over the Los Angeles Angels for the final playoff spot. It looks like the team is taking advantage of the expanded rosters now and promoting Bundy.

From Ken Rosenthal: BREAKING: , in need of a fresh arm following their 18-inning victory, have promoted their top pitching prospect, Dylan Bundy, 19.

According to Steve Melewski of MASN:

The 19-year-old Bundy went 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 23 starts split between low Single-A Delmarva, high Single-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie this season. He last pitched on Sept. 5 for the Baysox in a playoff game vs. Akron, allowing six hits and one run over six innings. The Orioles were planning on Bundy pitching around 125 innings this season and he is at 109 2/3, counting six in that playoff game.

Who knows if Bundy will just be making a cameo in Septemeber, or he may be in big leagues to stay.

These are sure exciting times in Baltimore. They’re winning and now Bundy is promoted. What’s next?
